Fear of Disappointing Others.

Have you struggled with people pleasing?

Have you prayed and sought God’s word…as you tried to worry less about what someone might think…or will most likely think?

But still…after months of doing well…have one single person lash out because of a carefully, considered decision you made?

And all of a sudden, you find yourself right back in that quick sand.

It trapping your shoes of peace…that addiction to fear…sucking you back in and down – under?

Oh! Sigh. How I wish I could step out of this screen and give you a big hug. Look you in the eyes. And say, I understand. I feel your pain. Me too!❤

A dear friend helped shine a little light on this issue, for me…again.

Her patience and sensitivity towards me is a blessing. 🙂

Thinking things through was never a struggle for me.

Constantly changing my mind to avoid “offending others” has been. And clearly, it still is. 😦

I already have learned an approval addiction can be a very stressful & damaging thing.

Trust me.

Deep Breath.

Old habits die hard!

But Daddy – God’s grace, peace and rest…are stronger than my old habits!

He is my strength when my flesh is weak!

Lord, help me to break “this” habit!

Has this been your biggest prayer?
Does it need to be?

For some loved ones, it is being more personal, being more intentional or being less critical.

For me, it is this…to stay in a place of -intentional- peace & rest in HIM…and not compromise my prayerful decisions because of the unhealthy “fear” from the enemy, that I adopted decades ago (due to trauma and coping). The fear of offending others.

Here are some scriptures from God’s word.

Write them out. Place them on your fridge, by your house phone or near your computer screen and in your cell phone wallet.

“God spoke strongly to me, grabbed me with both hands and warned me not to go along with this people. He said: “Don’t be like this people, always afraid somebody is plotting against them. Don’t fear what they fear. Don’t take on their worries. If you’re going to worry, worry about The Holy. Fear God -of-the-Angel-Armies. The Holy can be either a Hiding Place or a Boulder blocking your way, The Rock standing in the willful way of both houses of Israel, A barbed-wire Fence preventing trespass to the citizens of Jerusalem. Many of them are going to run into that Rock and get their bones broken, Get tangled up in that barbed wire and not get free of it.”
Isaiah 8:11-15 MSG

“The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.”
Proverbs 29:25 MSG

“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.”
1 John 4:17-18 MSG

“You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you —keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.”
2 Timothy 4:3-5 MSG

Help me to rest in your grace, peace & rest…and give me Your strength to not walk in old unhealthy habits that I have already been given the victory over!

Give me a sound mind and an even better ability to resist the enemy…when he tempts me, again in this area!

Thank you, Daddy – God…for Your never – ending grace, mercy and rest!

Thank You for the undeserved and unmatched gift of Your son, dying for my sins…all to save me from hell and to bring me relationship with You!

Thank you, Father! I praise You!

It is in Jesus’ name, I pray.
